Onur is a postdoctoral researcher specializing in Orthopteran insects, with a particular focus on the diversity, evolutionary dynamics, and speciation mechanisms of endemic species in Anatolia, particularly those inhabiting the high mountain chains of the Eastern Mediterranean. He completed both his BSc and MSc in Biology at Akdeniz University, where he is currently affiliated. During his PhD, he conducted extensive research on the phylogeny, taxonomy, and biogeography of Poecilimon bush-crickets, integrating molecular and morphological data. His doctoral work was supported by several prestigious institutions, including TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey), the Linnean Society of London, the Systematics Association, and the Orthopterists’ Society. Additionally, he conducted research on the mitogenomics of bush-crickets at Texas A&M University under the supervision of Dr. Hojun Song, further expanding his expertise in insect systematics and evolutionary genomics.
Onur is an active member of the Orthopterist Society, the Evolutionary Biology and Ecology Society, and the Eastern Mediterranean Research Society, contributing to the advancement of research in the fields of entomology, evolutionary biology, and conservation.
